Build it yourself, and change it whenever
The reward rules, the pages members see, and the messages that go out are all settings rather than code. A marketer can launch a program and then adjust it on a Tuesday afternoon, without a ticket or a release.

Where you start
Begin from a program that already works
A blank configuration screen is the slowest possible start, because every field is a decision you have not made yet. Pick the kind of program you are running and Referral Rock applies a working set of settings for it. If you are not sure which kind you are running, there is a path for that too.
- Customer referral, affiliate and partner, or a guided path when the answer is not obvious yet.
- Nothing a template sets is locked. Every setting stays editable afterwards, so the template is a head start rather than a commitment.
- A program you have proven can be saved and reused, which is how a second location or brand starts from a working setup. See users and access.
What you control
The four things a program is made of
All four are settings. Changing any of them is a choice in the admin, not a change request that waits in someone's backlog.
The pages a member sees
Design the member portal and the page a referred friend lands on, in your own colors and wording, without touching a stylesheet.
The messages that go out
Edit the invite, the reminder, the reward notification, and the share messages members send. The wording is yours rather than a fixed template.
The reward rules
Set what each side earns, what has to happen before it is earned, and whether it repeats. Rules are configured rather than coded.
The ways in
Turn on the access links, QR codes, and placements that let customers find the program, and change them later without a rebuild.
Reward rules
Change what a referral is worth without a release
The reward is the part you will change most, because the first number you pick is rarely the right one. Reward type, amount, who earns it, and what has to happen first are all options you set, so testing a different offer takes an afternoon rather than a sprint.
How to design the offer itself, and the payout side of it, lives on reward management.
Who gets in
Decide how members join
The right answer depends on what you are giving away and to whom. Access mode is a setting on the program, and it can change later.
Open access
Anyone can join instantly. Best for consumer programs where volume matters more than vetting.
Requires approval
An admin approves each member before the welcome goes out. Useful when the reward is significant or the audience needs checking.
Admin added only
Nobody joins on their own and members are added by your team. The right setting for invite-only partner and affiliate programs.
Where a developer helps
The parts that are not no-code
A standard program is marketer-launchable end to end. Two things sit outside that, and it is better to know which before you plan the work.
- Recording a conversion on your own site takes a script or an API call, unless your platform has a self-service connection. See referral tracking.
- Custom reward logic driven by data only your systems hold, or CRM stage triggers built through the API, needs technical work.
- Neither is needed to launch. Plenty of programs run for years without touching either.
Building it yourself does not mean building it alone
The builder is what makes the program yours to change. The advisor is what makes the first version a good one.
See how advisor-led setup works-
An advisor on every plan
A dedicated advisor works through reward design, messaging, and launch with you rather than handing over a login.
-
The builder is for after
Once you are live, changing a reward or rewording an invite is yours to do the same afternoon you decide to.
-
Templates carry the defaults
A template starts you from settings that already work, so fewer decisions are yours to make cold.
-
Nothing is one-way
Programs are meant to be adjusted. Every setting a template applies can be changed once you see real behavior.
