What You Can Do with Chargebee

Connect Chargebee natively to Referral Rock referral software (a native integration currently in open beta). With Customer Feed, Chargebee becomes a system of record for your subscription business: when an invoice is paid or a subscription becomes active, the matching referral is approved across all your programs and the customer can be enrolled as a member, with no manual reconciliation.

Customer Feed: a paid invoice or active subscription approves the matching referral across all programs
Preload paying customers as members automatically based on your account settings
Connect with a Chargebee site API key plus your site/subdomain (API-key auth)
Reads Chargebee Invoices, Subscriptions, Customers, and Transactions (inbound-only, read-only)

How the Chargebee Integration Works

1

Connect with a Chargebee site API key

Generate a site API key in Chargebee and enter it, along with your site/subdomain, in Referral Rock. This is API-key authentication; there's no OAuth pop-up. See Chargebee's API keys guide for generating one.

2

A paid invoice approves the referral

When an invoice is paid, or a subscription becomes active, Customer Feed matches the customer and sets their referral to Approved across all of your programs automatically.

3

Preload customers as members

Based on your account settings, the paying customer can be added as a preloaded member and flow into your invite lifecycle, ready to start referring.

4

Trigger rewards on approval

The Customer Feed approval can trigger the reward automatically based on your program rules, gift cards, cash, or a custom incentive, with no manual work for your team.

Customer Feed: approve referrals on real subscription revenue

Connect Chargebee as a system of record and let paid invoices and active subscriptions drive your program. When a referred customer pays, their referral is approved and rewards can fire.

 • A paid Invoice or an active Subscription in Chargebee sets the matching referral to Approved across every program it belongs to.
 • The connection is inbound-only and read-only: Referral Rock reads billing events using your site API key and never writes to your Chargebee account.
 • Customers can be preloaded as members based on your account settings, so they enter the invite lifecycle without any manual work.

Built for subscription businesses

Chargebee runs recurring revenue, and referral programs thrive on it. Approving referrals on paid invoices and active subscriptions keeps rewards tied to revenue you actually collect.

 • Attribute paid invoices and active subscriptions to the advocate who sent the referral, automatically.
 • Track reward obligations tied to collected subscription revenue, fully auditable.
 • A single paid invoice can approve the matching referral across all of your programs at once.

Expert setup support included

Generating an API key and deciding which billing events should approve referrals takes a little thought. Every Referral Rock customer gets a dedicated advisor to walk them through it.

 • We help you generate the Chargebee site API key and confirm the right billing events drive approvals.
 • We help you decide reward timing and how to structure your launch campaign.
 • If something doesn't connect the way you expect, we dig in with you until it does.

Chargebee Referral Integration FAQs

Referral Rock connects to Chargebee natively using a site API key. You generate the key in Chargebee and enter it, along with your site/subdomain, in Referral Rock. Customer Feed approves the matching referral when an invoice is paid or when a subscription becomes active. The referral is set to Approved across all of your programs, and the customer can be preloaded as a member based on your account settings.

The native integration reads Chargebee Invoices, Subscriptions, Customers, and Transactions. It does not modify any of them.
You can generate a site API key in your Chargebee settings; see Chargebee's API keys documentation. You'll enter the key and your site/subdomain in Referral Rock, and our onboarding team can walk you through it.
