Small businesses have come a long way in just a few short years. As far as internet usage is concerned. The internet provides many tools for small businesses. The internet is practically an all in one tool for businesses.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few things that make perfect sense when looking at the rise in internet usage in small businesses. First off, the web is everywhere. Plus smartphones, tablets, and computers are easy for consumers to get their hands on.<\/p>\n<p>The availability of the web is unreal. Try to think of a business that doesn\u2019t use the internet? It\u2019s hard, right?<\/p>\n<p>Many consumers conduct online research for local products and services. How many exactly? A whopping 97% according to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2015\/11\/24\/how-to-tap-into-the-14b-small-business-saturday-action.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2015\/11\/24\/how-to-tap-into-the-14b-small-business-saturday-action.html\" data-cke-saved->Independent We Stand (IWS) campaign<\/a>. With this number in mind, it makes sense why businesses are working on their web presence. It\u2019s what the consumer\u2019s want.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers base their purchases off of what they see and hear via their internet searches. This provides reviews and links to the business&#8217;s website and social media pages. These searches and reviews act as <a href=\"https:\/\/referralrock.com\/blog\/word-of-mouth-marketing\/\">word-of-mouth marketing<\/a>. We all know how fast WOM\u00a0travels and we all know how much of an impact it has on the internet.<\/p>\n<h2>Social media<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m sure we have all done a search for a small business. And even if you came up empty-handed while trying to find their \u2018actual\u2019 website. You were probably able to find their Twitter and Facebook page. It seems that a lot of small businesses use social media to mark their\u00a0presence\u00a0on the internet. This is perfectly fine. In fact, according to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.convinceandconvert.com\/social-media-research\/9-new-social-media-statistics-and-what-they-really-mean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.convinceandconvert.com\/social-media-research\/9-new-social-media-statistics-and-what-they-really-mean\/\" data-cke-saved->Convince and Convert<\/a>, &#8220;72 percent of marketers said that social media has helped them gain loyal fans&#8221;!<\/p>\n<p>With social media acting as a forerunner to the connection between customers and businesses. It makes perfect sense why\u00a0small businesses use of the internet is evolving. Social media has provided a relatively <a href=\"https:\/\/theboostapps.com\/inexpensive-ways-to-market-your-small-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inexpensive way of marketing<\/a>. Plus, many businesses use social media to connect with their customers. Whether it is by answering a question or\u00a0just reaching out to say hello.<\/p>\n<h2>The new generation<\/h2>\n<p>Millennials are changing the way businesses do\u2026 well, business. Millennials adapt to technology quickly. Meaning the internet is practically a life source for this generation. The workforce is ever growing with millennials. This means <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mightycall.com\/blog\/small-business-examples\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">small businesses<\/a> have had to adjust the way they use the internet.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses are transforming to keep up with their competitors marketing strategies. The use of internet marketing leads to the ability to quickly spread information. With this number increasing yearly, small businesses feel the pressure to stay relevant. Plus, small business owners (think of Etsy sellers) do not have to pay rent for an actual store-front. Most of their consumer\u2019s come from the internet. This alone explains the appeal of being a completely online store.<\/p>\n<h2>Small business internet use<\/h2>\n<p>Businesses are not just using the internet to host a website. They are using the internet to scope and compare their competitors. \u201cBusinesses use the internet to research new product ideas, new methods of creating products and pricing information\u201d mentions <a href=\"http:\/\/smallbusiness.chron.com\/internet-impacted-businesses-321.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/smallbusiness.chron.com\/internet-impacted-businesses-321.html\" data-cke-saved->K.A. Francis, studioD<\/a>. Small business owners have become incredibly savvy at locating information. It doesn\u2019t take a trip to the library anymore to do research.<\/p>\n<p>Small businesses can even use the internet to start their business, filling out form and submitting all of the initial paperwork. For example, if you&#8217;re looking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.incandgo.com\/how-to-start-an-llc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">form an LLC<\/a> or other type of business, this can all be done online or contracting a third-party services.<\/p>\n<p>The internet gives small businesses the platform to connect with their consumers. It can also be used to <a href=\"https:\/\/referralrock.com\/blog\/generate-leads-with-facebook\/\">find new consumers<\/a> too. It doesn&#8217;t matter how small the company is or if the company is a team of introverts.
